TVPaint crashes on startup [solved]

Hello dear TVPaint friends,

Since this evening I am experiencing recurring crashes when I start TVP.

What I do is: I double click a TVP file in a windows folder. TVP starts up, albeit somewhat slower than normal, and then I get this window:

Image

Inside it says:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: TVP Animation 9 Pro.exe
Application Version: 9.5.1.0
Application Timestamp: 4ae581e2
Fault Module Name: TVP Animation 9 Pro.exe
Fault Module Version: 9.5.1.0
Fault Module Timestamp: 4ae581e2
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 004121c6
OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033

Additional Information 3: fd00

The weird thing is: this only happens when TVP starts up in the second Room (because, at an earlier moment, it was closed it that room).
I've accommodated that room for drawing layouts and have set the tool panels on the left and right side of that room to collapsible. That, and some small differences in the keyboard shortcuts, are the only things that I changed compared to other Room 1.

When I first open TVP (through) the 'Start' menu in windows and then open the file through the TVP menu (File>Open...) the file opens and TVP does not crash. So I am able to access my files and work with them.

But I thought it might be important to let you know if and when TVP is behaving strangely...
Any idea what might be causing these crashes ??

Machine config:
OS: Windows Vista 64bit
CPU: i7 920,
RAM: 12 GB
HD: 1000 GB Samsung HD103UJ SATAII

Application Version: 9.5.1.0
I think you should update your TVP Animation, maybe the bug has been already fixed.

If the problem is still here, you can "erase" your 2nd room by clicking on ctrl and alt (you have to be on another room before press ctrl, alt and 2nd room). Maybe there is a bug in your 2nd room so you cannot start with it =)

But I am using TVP 9.5.5, that the only version that I have currently installed.
I don't know why Windows sees 9.5.1.0...

I tried 'erasing' (the settings of) my second room as you suggested and that seems to work.
Can it be that the collapsible tool panels are causing the problems?

It's a version bug in the windows resource info ( fixed in the next update )

Please, I hope you can help me with this because I am losing a lot of time working around this issue!

Hi Sewie, I think there is a problem with your configuration (maybe you quited TVP animation brutally, etc...)

If you are on PC, start TVP animation by pressing CTRL : a window will appear. In that window, you can create a new configuration (you will "lose" all your last configuration, but you can reload some stuffs like your panels in your Documents and Settings).

If you are on Mac, I advise you to move your TVP animation files from Libraries to another folder, delete TVP animation and install it again, in order to create a new configuration (you will "lose" all your last configuration, but you can reload some stuffs like your panels in the folder where you moved your previous configuration).

Thanks Elodie. I'll try that.

It seems to work, Elodie. No startup crashes so far!
I have the feeling that TVP has become a lot more responsive after this 'reset' as well...!
