TVP9's behavior for this tool was so convenient. Everyone at my studio agrees that this was a negative change and we greatly want it back.
I don't agree.
In tvpaint 9 it wasn't possible to move a whole layer with the transform (by selecting every frame and hit the enter button) tool and still keep keep it organised. It automatically breaks every instance into single frames.
I had to get used to the tvpaint 10 method, but in my opinion it is much better.
I agree with the new proposal for a tool drop down menu. Then it's perfect for everybody!
tranform tool help!

hi there, i just recently changed from TvPaint 9 to 10 and realized that the transform tool doesnt work as it used to do.
before, i could have a drawing in frame 1, and transform it in instance 16 and it would automatically set it as a new frame. having then frame 1 unaltered and frame 16 transformed. With tvpaint 10 if i transform instance 30, instead of setting a new frame, i now have an altered frame 1. so no matter how far forward one is, when one transform the instance i am standing, it will transform the very first frame and thats it.
can anyone tell me how to set a frame when i press enter.
transform and warp tool are the ones not setting the frame. panning does it. is this a bug? a detition made? a configuration problem?
thank you very much in advanced.

This is a new behaviour in v10, and I don't like it as well. It's discussed here:

We will re-think it, but I don't know when exactly.
Please be patient.
EDIT : OK in the TODO list, but not for 10.5.

can anyone tell me how to set a frame when i press enter.
When I use the transform tool and I want to create a new frame I always use a keyboard shortcut I created from the animator panel: "transform an exposure into instance"

i forgot,
how can i make the transform tool auto brake the instance when applying.
now it applies the transform on the head frame and not on the actual frame.

I merged your question on that feature request

ah yes, this changed.
So will the auto break be fixed for 10.5? or has it already? i'm afraid i can't find theautobreak setting....
its not in the preference where i would expect it...

I don't think the behavior has been changed. I will remind this to the developers.

Will there be a possibility for the transform tool to choose between "auto brake" or "don't auto brake".
Because I like the possibility to have my tvpaint settings on auto brake while my transform tool has it's settings "not auto brake".

It's in the TODO list.
Won't be ready for the 10.5 but in the TODO list anyway.

In my opinion it would be best to clearly show the user if "Auto create instance" and "Auto break instance" is on. Maybe next to the icon that shows if stencil is on or not.
Right now the checkbox is hidden in a menu out of sight, which makes it hard to know if it's on or not. And if it's on, the transform tool should break the instance. If it's off, it shouldn't break them.
Of course, when selecting multiple frames and applying the transform on an entire animation, it should only apply it on heads.
