Bring back Transform/Warping that creates a new instance
This is something that worked in TVP9 but has since been removed in TVP10. Let's say I draw something on frame one. Now I move the playhead to frame five. Previously, if I were to warp or transform the object on frame five, it would have created a new instance in the timeline at that frame with the newly transformed object. So frame one has the original drawing, and frame five has my transformed drawing. However, now in TVP 10, no matter where you move the playhead beyond the original instance, any transformation activity will only manipulate the initial instance, and will not create a new instance where the playhead stands. This is hugely inconvenient, since it now requires me to create an artificial mark or erase in a safe area to create a frame where the playhead is located with the initial instance drawing, and then transform it for it to record properly. Why was this changed? Can't this be made an option? Like a check box: transform creates new instance, yes/no
Re: Bring back Transform/Warping that creates a new instance
Yes, this behavior changed as many people use transform tool and warp tool to apply a change on several instances (composed of several exposures). The new behavior avoid to lose the timing of the animation by breaking the instances.
The Panning tool is not affected by this change, as it does not need to be applied (contrary to transform and warp tool).
Instead of using the warp / transformation tools, you can use their equivalent in the FX Stack.

Re: Bring back Transform/Warping that creates a new instance
what about assigning a shortcut to exposure:break . and use it before the transform tool?
But why is The transform tool not breaking the exposures when "Instances:Auto Break Instance" is Enabled?
And is not breaking the Instance when it is off. Wouldnt it be the most logical?
And then there is the switch swiftsketcher is talking about?

it's also possible to break the instances after the transformation, through the animator panel shortcuts.

+1 to the original request. I used it a lot in v9 and have to swear a lot in v10 because I always forget about it now.

breaking when "Auto-Break" option is ON, and unbreaking when "Auto-Break" is OFF,
... nothing more, to satisfy everyones, I think.
Re: Bring back Transform/Warping that creates a new instance
Or maybe, force the software to understand that when there is only one exposure = we want to break it and when there are several instances / exposures selected : we just want to apply the change on the head ?
Re: Bring back Transform/Warping that creates a new instance
That sounds correct to me.Or maybe, force the software to understand that when there is only one exposure = we want to break it and when there are several instances / exposures selected : we just want to apply the change on the head ?
And +1 to the original request, I miss this feature a lot also
Re: Bring back Transform/Warping that creates a new instance
Well I dont like it.Elodie wrote:Or maybe, force the software to understand that when there is only one exposure = we want to break it and when there are several instances / exposures selected : we just want to apply the change on the head ?
When Auto break instance is disabled. I dont whant the exposure to break unless I ask for it. So if I am on an exposure and use the transform tool I expect the exposure NOT to break I expect the transform to happen on the head. just like when I draw on an exposure. what is the difference?
But if Auto break exposures is on i would expect it to break .
I think this is logical. If each tool starts to behave diffenrently what then?
Then There should be a Auto break instances with transform tool option?

Ok Mads, looks like I wasn't clear enough
Auto break instance disable : you never cut the instance, whatever your tool is (brush or transform tool)
Auto break instance enable : it breaks the instance when you draw or use the transform tool, EXCEPT if (in the case of the transform tool) you select several exposures / instances => there, it only applies the change on the instance's head.

What is the warp and transform tool's equivalent in the FX Stack?Elodie wrote:Yes, this behavior changed as many people use transform tool and warp tool to apply a change on several instances (composed of several exposures). Instead of using the warp / transformation tools, you can use their equivalent in the FX Stack.
Anyway, I understand that you made this change in order to avoid creating new instances on every frame when highlighting multiple frames, but couldn't this be solved by having a drop down menu in the tool's property window that lets you select "apply on: frames or, heads?
Like this?
That way everyone is happy. Any transformations applied will only affect the heads like it is now in TVP 10 if heads is selected, or selecting frames will create a new instance wherever the playerhead sits as per TVP9's behavior. TVP9's behavior for this tool was so convenient. Everyone at my studio agrees that this was a negative change and we greatly want it back. I created this thread on their and my behalf. I hope I was clear
