Anyone remember this one?

I was searching for mine today, without success, because I wanted to construct a spherical perspective (a nice explanation is given at http://www.treeshark.com/treeblog/?p=301). Then I remembered the spline tools in TVP and was able to construct a grid much faster than ever. Here's how:

1. Sketch the grid you want. It doesn't have to be mathematically accurate, instead it can be a "toon perspective". (That's why we use 2D and not CGI.)
2. Start with the horizontal and vertical line. If you do a symmetrical grid, you only need to draw one quarter of the grid, rest is done with duplicating and flipping images.

3. Select the B-spline tool. I found I get best results if I place the middle point inside the yellow zone. I place several lines in more or less even distance. Then I fill with more lines halfways, like inbetweens. Repeat with as many grid lines you need.

Immensely helpful, this spline tool.

well, we have this kind of guide in our TODO list, but I don't know when we will have time to work on it.

If I remember well, there is this kind of tool in Lemecs's RockNroll plugin, but I don't know if it still works :

You can also use the latest version of lazynezumi that includes curved perspective, it's really clever.

Why is this topic in content sharing ? Shouldn't it be placed in feature requests ?

Because I was just sharing a how-to, not requesting anything.

Maybe we should add a section to the forum for this?

Oh ok, I wasn't sure, my apologise

But having a spherical perspective tool inside TVP would be great. I just wonder how it should work within the concept "no artwork outside the project boundaries", because I think any perspective tool is more useful when I can place vanishing points quite far outside the artwork. When I did that stuff on paper, I often had two vanishing points 1,5 m away from each other.

This is not a grid I'd prefer, but should illustrate my point of being able to place that tool outside the profect area.

in the guide system, the vanishing points can be outside the boundaries of the project.
