Light Table luma option?

Post by spyderheart »

From what I can tell, the Light Table only uses the alpha channel of the layer when displaying the colorized past and future frames. This works great for penciling or if you are super organized and use a layer for each colour.
I like to work in a free, sketchy, scratchy, painterly way without worrying too much about layer structure, making heavy use of the various drawing modes (behind, erase, etc). The problem is that as all these strokes pile up, the alpha channel is filled and looking even 1 frame back or forward, all you see is the overall silhouette of the drawing. For example, I can see the shape of a head, but I can't see where the eyes are on the head. I have to flip.
It seems to me that if the light table could use the alpha AND luma channels, then apply the colorization, we could see much more detail within a layer.

Thanks to anyone who knows a way to achieve this in TVP10!

(I would upgrade to TVP11 if it was already in there.)

note: I'm fully aware that this can technically be addressed through layer management etc. Unfortunately, I find that to be too big of a compromise with respect to workflow and the straightforward simplicity of working in one layer - which I find is good for creativity.
