RamDisk Temp Directory ?

I work with very large files, with many layers.
I have TVPaint 8.1.1.b on Server 2003 Enterprise with 4 GB RAM.
TVPaint sees the 4 Gb.
I created a 3GB RamDisk on another computer on my network, and I set there the Temp Directory for TVPaint. Everything fine.
My system pagefile is set on hard disk.
Questions :
1. If I add another 4GB to my RAM, can TVPaint use the total 8 GB ? ( My computer can have 16, Server 2003 Ent supports 32.)
2. Is TVPaint speed affected by the system pagefile location and size?
I am planning to add more memory to my system, up to 16, and move
the system paging file to a RamDisk. Do you have any specific technical recomandations ?
Thanks.

TVPaint is a 32 bits app and won't use more than 4Gb.
I doubt any app can use more than 4Gb on serv2003 because it's not a 64bit OS. Using more than 4Gb is only useful when running several apps at the same time.

TVPaint will avoid as much as possible using the system pagefile.
In normal usage it shouldn't use it at all.
TVPaint uses it's own paging to it's temp file.
Speed of the temp file is important.

This won't improve performance of TVPaint.
Putting the temp file on the ramdisk would improve performance, but it's size will be very limited.
You should consider getting a fast array of disks (RAID 0 or 5) instead of more RAM to get the best performance/cost ratio for TVPaint.

What would then be the best allocation of ressources for TVPaint if I move to Vista 64 with 16 GB RAM and also have two 3GB RamDisks available as drives shared on a network ( created in the RAM of two other computers ) ?
I work with static images - as large as TVPaint lets me, with occasionally many layers.
Thanks.

TVPaint is still a 32bits app for now, and won't use more than 4 Gb RAM, even on vista.
If you really want to use your 16Gb of RAM, make a ramdisk of 12Gb and use it as temp drive. Unless vista allows you to 'stripe' different sized drives, I can't see any use for the other two ramdisks. If you can stripe them with the local 12Gb ramdisk, just go on and do it, you can't have too much space for the temp file.
Check from time to time to see if there is space left on that fast but small drive... if space gets too low, save your work and restart TVPaint.

After checking it's only a display bug.
It will really use 4 Gb (the max a 32bits app can use).
Will be fixed.
