I don't like the new out-of-pegs Reset button

Post by Soom »

I don't like that Out of Pegs Reset and Link functions are under one drop-down menu button. It has slowed down my workflow so badly, that I had to create a separate button for the Reset function, which just made my workspace more clunky. I almost never need to use the linking function and I don't mind it there, but the reset is something I use every minute, as I work on cleanup and inbetweening now. Please get it back to as it was and find another place for the linking function. These two by the way are quite unrelated, and should not be together.

As a suggestion for linking, I would add a new row under the light table, just like the out of pegs buttons row, just with individual linking toggles - that would make more sense to me than linking all of them or nothing.

I'm not a big fan of it. I don't konw what to do with linked out of pegs so I don't need the popup for it.

Yes but some users needed to linked the out of pegs. So where should be the access to that feature ?

Could someone then explain what that little option actually does? Maybe I'm missing out on something, because I often use linked sliders -- which I use by leaving the same Link Sliders under the main menu on. So what does this little one outside do that the inside one can't do? What does it do at all?

It lets you shift them out of pegs all at once instead of one by one.

As I suggested - one more row of toggles (could be an expandable/collapsible row) that will have individual linking toggles. This way we will be able to toggle linkage of each frame separately, and see what is linked or not. Right clicking any of these toggles should bring a menu for linking/unlinking all of them or selected ones etc.

You would choose the linked Out of pegs ?

Yep - just - again - instead of drop-downs, make just crosses, as it was before:

Right clicking the XXs could bring a menu with more options (like "reset all", "reset linked only", "link all", "link visible only" etc.

i agree a more direct reset would be welcome.
but i don't like that second row much, this is getting too complicated "imho"
why not stick to that last suggestion by Soom: make the button an X and have the RMB give entry to a menu

also when "linked all" is ticked all the active OOP buttons should turn yellow.

Well - the second row is just a suggestion for individual linkage possibility. right now the use of linked images is a bit limited. although I agree that adding more rows makes it less elegant. why not just let users to select the out-of-pegs transformation with SHIFT or CTRL or whatever, which will let you select multiple frames at once?!

I must admit I'm not really fan of the second row either. That makes the interface heavier (yes, I know, it's just a drop in an ocean ).

We'll try to find a good solution to satisfy everyone :)

I think a right click is more common than ctrl + click :)

But the idea is interesting
