Control Pad 0
What does the word "Pad" mean in this keystroke command?

All keyboards have numbered keys in two places; along the row atop of the letters, and to one side the way they appear on calculators or phone dialing pads, and there's your answer. The keypad numbers give out signals that differ from the keyboard ones even though when used for typing they appear to do the same thing.

Maybe if you put the inscriptions back on the keys, you would have fewer bugs.

Actually only standard desktop keyboards have the Num Pads. Laptops and many other keyboards don't. I know people who have no idea what that is cause they never had a proper desktop computer. I always miss the Num Pad on my MacBook Pro...

My Lenovo Z-500 laptop has a Num PadSoom wrote:Actually only standard desktop keyboards have the Num Pads. Laptops and many other keyboards don't. I know people who have no idea what that is cause they never had a proper desktop computer. I always miss the Num Pad on my MacBook Pro...
And having a num pad is the first thing I look for in a laptop : if there is none then I won't buy it.
Many laptops have a Num Pad, but I've yet to see a MacBook that has it ^^
Re: Control Pad 0
MacBooks will probably never have them. even most desktop macs ship with standard mini keyboard without Num Pad, unless you specifically order one.Thierry wrote: Many laptops have a Num Pad, but I've yet to see a MacBook that has it ^^

Re: Control Pad 0
I find it advantageous to have a numbers pad separated from the main pad anyway. I find the numbers pad is best placed when it directly docks with the Wacom tablet because I draw with one hand on the pad, while the other hand is for drawing. External numbers pads as easily available and cheap.

Yep - it's a good idea, but when I think about carrying all those additional gadgets and using up all my usb slots I start doubting the portability of portable computersPaul Fierlinger wrote:I find it advantageous to have a numbers pad separated from the main pad anyway.
