Select multiple layers with Cmd click

Post by Lukas »

In OS X you can select multiple files with CMD click, and select a row of files with SHIFT.

It would be nice if it worked the same way with selecting layers in TVPaint. SHIFT works for selecting a row, but CMD click doesn't do anything.

(Any other software with layers I've worked with works like this too. TVPaint always seems to be the odd one out, doing things differently)

the selecting of layers works like this in TVPaint on Windows. So is it a OS X bug?

Aaaah, I guess TVPaint is still a Windows application after all these years. I just tried and CTRL works on OS X too... Thanks! :D

TVPaint seriously should NOT use CTRL like this on OS X systems. It's never used for these kinds of purposes, that's whats CMD is for. OS X is NOT windows......

...Seriously? That's a horrible attitude.

That would be fine aswell, but only if also every other application would too! (Photoshop, Anime Studio, etc)

I really don't care, as long as things just work the same way, I don't want to learn everything all over again for every single piece of software for doing exactly the same things.

More seriously I think being able to use Command(cmd) as Ctrl On OS X is a fair feature request.

I have Worked on Macintosh some years ago for a short time and I remember this annoyed me. that I had to use CMD in the OS but CTRL in TVPaint.

But strangely enough I just searched through the Feature request section and there dont seem to be a feature request yet for any Apple users?Havr no one have file this request yet? Maybe you could s change the titel of this request to something like. "Option for Using the Command Key(cmd) as Control Key(ctrl) on OS X" or making a new request, because this is in fact the request. or?

Hmm. I think you're right.

I'm just wondering if there's anything in TVPaint under CTRL that should stay under CTRL?
So far I can't think of any.

I once even imported my TVPaint shortcuts from mac to pc. (actually I had my preferences automatically saved+loaded from a dropbox folder so I would always have my latest shortcuts/brushes).
But I couldn't even save (CMD+S), because that was my save shortcut on my Mac, and my windows laptop didn't have a CMD key... A lot of my shortcuts didn't work anymore.

So my question to the developers:

Would it be possible to just have CMD in OS X act like CTRL does on windows?

Please consider Mac users are not used to Windows shortcuts.

If that is possible, it would be the best solution in my opinion!

Most of our users wants to keep the same shortcuts on all platforms.
Please consider Mac users are not used to Windows shortcuts.
 the biggest part of our dev team is working on Mac ... (many because of so much troubles with Apple dev policy ;) )
There no concept of better OS for us ... we have seen so many : Amiga, Dec, Sun, Casabalnca, Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, ...

One could make the case that, as usual, OS X is the odd one out and doing things differently, as Windows and Linux both use CTRL.

Take a look at the example of lukas: it's impossible to export the keyboard shortcuts from os x to windows, because the cmd button is not the same as the windows ctrl button.
It could really be helpful in a studio where people working on linux, windows and os x systems to be able to export your keyboard shortcuts and import them on the other systems. But now this is not possible because of the cmd/ctrl problem...

so please change it... I wouldn't mind to make new keyboard shortcuts all over again, if this thing is fixed (like ALL other software I use on my mac)
