Groups to be used as a source input in the FX stack

Could they?

I need to keyframe an animation that is spread over many layers in one group.
there is no way to preview this without merging this group

i found a workaround by adding "Image source" fx's for each layer of the group, but this is a lot of extra work when the group consists of many layers.
so the simple addition of groups a s a source option would be of great help.

As a side note, the "Image source" fx is curiously grouped in the color section of the fx's
it would be better to place it somewhere else, maybe not in any subgroup but simply at the top of the list
because its such a general tool in the fx stack

In cases like this I simply render out the animation and re-import it.

yes you can do that or merge the group, copy the layer, undo(to unmerge), then paste the layer.

it works, but especially if you need to play around with the timelineposition of individual layers within the group it would be Sooo much easier just to set the group as a source.
