I still often work with the x-sheet, often I get the animation scanned on paper and continue working with it in TVP, sometimes I have so many layers of colouring that
I use a whole clip as source. I appreciate the new feature to give custom names to instances, like 9a, 9b, 9b2.. Classic animators often use these names,
when they add additional inbetweens in the end.
But when I use the layer as X-Sheet source, all the names are gone again, and the numbering is simple 1,2,3,4..
It would be really helpful to keep them. Now I often get a bunch of scanned pictures, and a x-sheet drawn on paper, and have to redo it in TVP, and the way it is now makes it really hard for me.
In the same turn, a function would be great to name a row of instances at once, and also keep the old names once I delete an instance or split a layer.
Right now when I split a layer at 9, the number 10 becomes number 1 again. Or is there a solution already?
At last.. is there a way to change the name of an x-sheet layer in the x-sheet tab? Right now I always have to switch back in the timeline view to rename..
Still the whole X-sheet timing looks a little rough for me, selecting and dragging the drawings is still difficult and buggy.
I think the times of x-sheets are not over yet, and a better X-sheet, like in Animo/Toonboom, would help to push TVP more into the Big Studio Professional Field.
Until now, Toonboom still rules here, and many people are not happy with it.
In big Asian studios people still draw on paper, and then do the finalizing in TV-Paint. At the moment a difficult and time-consuming process.

Please, could you give us some examples in screenshot? Because I'm not sure I have understood everything.
