I noticed that if I check both wintab and subpixel, I can no longer zoom with alt+rmb.
If I uncheck either wintab or subpixel, I can zoom with alt+rmb.

...and I'm working with an intuos 3, windows 7.

also pressure sensitivity doesn't work with wintab switched off.

I can zoom with alt/rmb. Also win7 Intuos 3. When I turn wintab off I get a jittery line but pressure sensitivity remains. As little as I can remember, Wintab has something to do with tablets where sometimes you have to turn it off to get a better line.

seems like totally random outcomes from these switches.

I'd love to get an explanation on why these switches act so weird.

Right now, I'm in a situation where I can't zoom and have pressure sensitivity at the same time.

Now you got me started. I just noticed that RMB alt zoom works only with my mouse but not with my pen when wintab is on (I never use RMB alt -- I find the zoom slider on the Project Panel much more intuitive and requires no keyboard combos to use.

Yeah, I just noticed that the mouse will allow zoom as well.
I'm starting to blame windows 7 and it's build in pen and touch options.

Now that I've installed the latest intuos 3 driver, pressure sensitivity works no problem.

good to see I'm not the only one facing this issue.

-Wintab On and SubPixel On: the side button is considered as a switch to invert the tip of the stylus -> "Side Switch + put the tip on the tablet" do a right click instead a left click (so it's more easy to draw when using pressure and right click )

ok, I get it. With both wintab and subpix on, you need to right click and put down the tip of the pen in order to right click.
But why make such a feature, how is that helpful?

I'd really like to have the smoothnes and precision of subpix but not for the price of having to click two buttons in order to make a simple right click.

Also, windows 7 is the most horrible thing I've ever encountered. It's completely cluttered with tablet features that I can't turn off. In order to right click in a windows folder, I need to tap and hold down.
I am going crazy!

I wouldn't consider this the action of two buttons. I've been working like this for years and never thought of it as anything superfluous. To press the switch and tap the point of action is the most natural way of using a pen, I would think.

I am just asking to keep things simple.
Honestly it's one more unnecessary step to a vital function that has worked fine so far, why change that?

before:
1) press alt
2) click rmb on the side of the pen
3) drag pen either left or right

now:
1) press alt
2) click rmb on the side of the pen
3) press down pen
4) drag pen either left or right

and I am still confused whether this issue is due to TVpaint 10 or Windows 7

the reason why I started to mess around with the wintab, subpix switches in the first place was because of the stairstep lines that are produced when drawing at a viewport zoom of 50% or less. Don't confuse it with pixelation, the line is not pixelated, but when I zoom in to 100%, it's clear that the line follows a near horizontal or vertical path and then steps to a new path.
It occurs on nearly horizontal and verical lines. I can't give you an example right now, since I'm not at my horrible windows workstation at my current animation studio, but I'll remember to do a screen dump tomorrow.
Switching on sub pix seems to kill this stairstep tendency, but then we have the thing with the zoom...

On TVpaint 9.5 on my imac back home, these stairstep lines never occur.

that's the reason of the developpement of the subpixel option.
you don't have it on Macs/Linux, because both of those OS manage natively subpixel.

nb : you can also show an exemple with the mechanical pencil. it explains it better I think.

ok, I haven't tried the mechanical pencil yet, I'll give it a go.
