More Clear mark in and mark out
More Clear mark in and mark out
I sometimes use mark in and mark out for timing of my clips when using the project timeline.
I think it would work better if there was a more clear indication of where the mark in and out is. something like this.

Or something like this ?
(like the bookmarks ?)
I'm afraid a "too gray" interface becomes too oppressive... ?

Re: More Clear mark in and mark out
I find Mads suggestion somewhat clearer.

Re: More Clear mark in and mark out
I think I would like both. I like th the new way the bookmarks is shown. I think the mark in and out should also go all the way through the layers like you have suggested Elodié. But when the Mark in or out is enabled I would also like the "outside" to be grayed out to faster visual navigation.but maybe not in a more shuttle Grey than I have suggested or maybe milked out?
Most of the time because I'm storyboarding my timeline is zoom out so even the new bookmarks can be hard to see and therefor I think the way you have suggested Elodie would also be hard to see.

So yes, why not, this is an interesting suggestion =)
Re: More Clear mark in and mark out
Maybe it is only the layer background that changes color. like current layer is a bit lighter?
Re: More Clear mark in and mark out
Since layers are now coloured all the way through, I think it's a better idea to just colour the line with the frame numbers on top, but in a bright green.

I like this idea. I will try to make a mockup tomorrow to see how it looks.slowtiger wrote:Since layers are now coloured all the way through, I think it's a better idea to just colour the line with the frame numbers on top, but in a bright green.

I think I like it
Re: More Clear mark in and mark out
I still like the first suggestion better. It has less coloured lines that can be confused with one another and I find it clearer. And you can see at a glance what you're selection is. My two cents.

Re: More Clear mark in and mark out
Ah, no, exactly the opposite: highlight the part between the markers. Isn't that more logical? That's the part being shown and exported, so it should be highlighted (maybe in yellow).
Alternatively that frame number line could get just a bit brighter inside the selection while much darker outside of it.

Re: More Clear mark in and mark out
BTW; Personally I prefer it when the interface is darker/greyer. To me, it's easier on the eyes (less harsh) when you're looking at the interface for long hours and long days. And I like it better when the interface has as less colour as possible. That leaves the contrasts and colours for where they aught to be: the artwork in the project window.I'm afraid a "too gray" interface becomes too oppressive... ?
So please, let's not make the interface, tools and buttons, etc, too colourful because I find it distracting to the eye when reviewing artwork.

May it could be something like this I just noticed that mark in and out is included(of course) in the clip so they shouldnt be included in the grey out
