Measure / Ruler tool

I know that practicing my eye and hand to draw exact proportions of an object or a character over hundreds of frames is a good exercise, but for productivity reasons I really would like to have a possibility to measure stuff in TVPaint by easier means. I couldn't find any easy way to do it, except using a little plastic ruler over my Cintiq! A little tool called "Ruler" or "Measure Tool" could be very handy i some cases. Just a line, that shows you the distance in pixels from point A to point B, that's all...
Thanks.

At the moment, there is only the coordinate panel (try to draw with the straight line tool), but ok it's very limited.
We are planning some other stuffs which should be released during the life of the v10.

Thanks Fabrice
Coordinate panel doesnt help much unless its a straight line and my head is clear to make quick math deductions
Hope to see this in V10!

My workaround is to draw a line on a designated layer which I keep open throughout, and can add to it's transparency as needed.

Yes - I do use the same trick sometimes, but it really takes so much time, that I prefer the plastic ruler instead
Imagine a simple example - an arm, that swings in profile walk, and I just need simply to check it's length throughout the scene. Drawing a line means that each frame I will need to select the line, transform it, select the animation layer, make the correction, and then do the same with the next frame, etc...
By the way, when I worked on paper, I used my pencil as a ruler by just laying it on paper, and holding the finger at a needed length. The Wacom pen unfortunately cannot be used like that due to it's form...

Are you aware of off-pegging within the Light Table?

Aside from working off the pegs (I use it, of course!) I still use a ruler on the cintiq sometimes - and some small post-its which I place to indicate some important pont to reach or to avoid in a movement.

Maybe this can help :
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5241" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
but ok, as said, we should re-think guides, rulers, etc ... in a v10.x

Wonderful, that's what I need! Thanks!

Well, not exactly - this tool lacks the most important thing - it doesn't show measurement units while dragging the line, therefore it's impossible to know what you measure until you click and set it...
