Possible to turn off auto-dry?

So my issue is this: I sketch with the penbrush, and I have turned off "Drying". All the lines blend in seamlessly with eachother, life is good. Then if I switch to another tool (eraser for example) heck even if I do a "Undo", the entire canvas is "dried" and my brush will no longer blend with anything made up until that point.
So, is there an option that will prevent TVP from auto drying the canvas whenever I do something other than drawing with the brush?
Or possibly some other solution to my problem?
It's a real program breaking "feature" for me. If I needed my brush to multiply with whatever had been done already, I'd turn on multiply.
Help much appreciated.
