Problem with the multiplane camera FX

Hi,

I got an ugly problem with the multiplane camera. I have 5 planes. 4 are different BG layers, and 1 holds an animation (18 Frames, Walkcycle on 1's).
The problem is, that the multiplane FX doubles some frames of that animation and don't positioning them correct.

Does anyone know that behavior and has a solution? I don't won't to go to After Effects or Anime Studio.

(The behavior is reproduceable after restart and complete new scene setup. I don't have any loops and the timeline of the animation and the main scene have the same length.)

Regards from Animark

I made an example with numbers instead of a walkcycle. Download the .mov, watch it in steps (frame by frame) and have a look at the numbers 29 and 57 to see what I am talking about. The positioning problem does not occurs in this case.

Thanks for any help,

is this problem appearing only in the export (.mov) or in the preview of the stack as well (before applying the mulyiplane_fx) ?
does a separate (secondary) project or an anim-layer within your main project ?
is your "walking-cycle" source (here the number-anim) at the same frame-rate than your main project ?

maybe can you upload your tvpp project here (zipped) to see what happen on other's machine ...?

Hi ZigOtto,
ZigOtto wrote:is this problem appearing only in the export (.mov) or in the preview of the stack as well (before applying the mulyiplane_fx) ?
It appears in the preview and all later steps as well.

Every plane (stills, animation) is a separate project.

Yes, it is. In the beginning I had some stills with the framerate of 30 instead of 25. My first idea was that the multiplane tries to scale from 30 to 25 and i fixed all to one framerate, but the problem appears again.

Strange things happen ...

...with Project/Modify *... or only in the remote control of the preview panel ?

... and for my 4th suggestion (to upload your exemple.tvpp file here), what's your answer... "no" ?

*edit : Project/Modify Project ... and "Stretch to New FrameRate" option = OFF (disable)

I modified the projects from 30 to 25 frames and saved under a new name. Then I rebuilded the multiplan setup with the new projects.

Oh, I didn't read that. Sorry. Meanwhile my project folder is overloaded with tests and copies and I will clean it up tomorrow. I will also try to reproduce the problem on an isolated project. Than I can post it, if it occurs again. My current problem project is not for public. But now, I am a little bit sleepy and will go to bed ... :|
Thanks for your help.

I've quickly tried with a spare project, and yes, I confirm this misbehavior, a break appears at fr29/30, then at fr57/58,
and even with the keyframer ... :o

Yes, I didn't found some sleep yet and made a complete new setup where all parts are made in TVPaint (no Photoshop BGs). Unfortunately I could reproduce the problem (I hoped it went away) and here are the files for the public.

Open every project you will find in the .zip at the same time and play with the "Multiplane_Main_Project.tvpp".

(probably nothing to do with it...)
also something I've noticed and reported while ago, the inconsistency of the starting frame (0 or 1)
in the preview window and in the timeline window is still here ...

A new day - the same problem

I made a new test today at our university with an older version of TVPaint (9.5.3) and got the same results
The earlier test are made with version 9.5.11.

OK, it's a bug. It's a rounding problem...
I don't have this bug in debug mode, It appear only in release mode.
It will be fixed in the next update.

I hope this will be fixed soon.

In TVP start-up panel I always set my projects to start on frame 1 , but the above noted problem is something I have noticed too,
i.e. the inconsistency of start frame 0 in preview window vs. start frame 1 in the actual timeline.

The multiplane camera / keyframer FX problem discussed here is fixed in version 9.5.12 of TVPaint.
