Big drawing lag on imac
Big drawing lag on imac
Yesterday the new schoolyear started and i have a classroom with 16 imacs running TVP animation 9.0 that al lag with drawing.
a fast circle results in a half circle because the beginning of the line is straight. hetching a row of lines results in only a few dots because most strokes don't even register.
its the biggest lag i've ever seen in tvp
we also get a lot of those spinning rainbow umbrellas between actions.
the cache is set to automatic (as it should right?)
in another thread Hervé asked for the proxy setting; the datarate is 20MB/s while the machine computes at 57 MB/s
specs:
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz
System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L30)
Kernel Version: Darwin 9.8.0
Boot Volume: Untitled
Boot Mode: Normal
Computer Name: Media Intel (71)
User Name: Student (student)
Time since boot: 1 day1:54
Wacom : CTE 440

1: install the update
2: look in the activity monitor if no other process use the cpu time
3: look in the activity monitor if no other process access the disk
4: look in the preference panel where is the temp file

6: check in the problem appear on other software
[edit]
7: Check the wacom drivers ( and the USB port )

There is only one proxy with different settings:elmisilhumano wrote:What are the advantages of the three different proxys?
M.
-inactive ( build the display in realtime during the playback )
-render in a background task ( load proxy image during the playback )
-render before playing ( render all proxy images before the playback )

Re: Big drawing lag on imac
But I don't know what is best to use? Which one uses most of the memory? Is some better with the short clips some better with the bigger projects?Hervé wrote:There is only one proxy with different settings:elmisilhumano wrote:What are the advantages of the three different proxys?

My mac have a lot of memory and speed but sometimes my mac with tvp still get slow with bigger projects.

Re: Big drawing lag on imac
So nothing works alas
we also tried it with an intuos3...but same problem:
the beginning of the line is not registered, but once drawing starts it draws as normal
Roderique the HKU system manager suggested that it might have to to with the graphics card?
i hope a solution can be found before next weeks lesson
Roderique can test your suggestions on Monday and Tuesday, i am only here on Friday morning.
4 circles, nr 4 is what happens if you continue drawing... it works as normal graphics card info:
