import psd or tif with opacity

hi all,
i forgot not to search for any functions on my own - i never find anything in tvpaint on my own.
so, its that easy: i want to import a tif or psd, which has some opacity spaces made in photoshop.
some weeks ago it worked, but not anymore. i tried it with import video, load, premulti or alpha only settings, i tried several files and a lot of combinations of options in ps. with load image it works, but he makes a new project out of it, and ofc i want to add it to the project i work on.
it just never becomes better with tvpain. I´m just too stupid.

I just tested myself (TVP 9).
PSD without background, TIFF with alpha channel: both appear with white, non-transparend background when imported via "import footage" in TVP.
PSD without background: appears transparent when opened via "open" in TVP.
It seems that TVP doesn't recognize an alpha channel in TIFF.
You could either
- open the PSD as new project and copy the image from there into your actual project, or
- save the image as PNG with transparency in Photoshop. The alpha channel of a PNG will be recognized by TVP.

I agree, TVP should have the "Import Footage" in the Edit men, right next to Open, or Export commands. As well, Import should retain opacity of PSD files, because the behavior now is undesired as TVP flattens the images and adds color, just like image viewers (capable of showing PSD files) do.
Or, more simply, TVP should bring up the import footage dialogue even When using Drag&Drop or using the Open command on PSD files.
Obviously in the meantime you can just open the PSD files as new projects and then copy (or CutBrush) the elements, or layers, into your needed project.

Indeed, alpha channel in TIFF is not recognised.
I think it would be nice if that could be done in a new update.

Hummm, alpha channel in TIFF files is supported very well in TVPaint since 1993 ! You don't need an update, check the alpha setting in the import/export panel..

O.k., I don't know what I am doing wrong.
I checked all ptions: guess, premultiply, no premultiply, alpha only, no alpha and I tried to do it with png's and I tried it with photoshop files, without succes.
I attached a jpeg of the train the way it looks like in the composition that the 3d animator (Jean-paul Tossings) made with his train and my backgroundpaint, and a rar-file with the tiff.
Maybe someone can take a look at it.

This Tiff file has no alpha.
Pixels are 32 bits but the alpha field is empty.
Witch software are you using to save this image ?

If I open the files in Photoshop or After Effects I can clearly see the alphachannel.
If I put a background underneath it in after effects it looks like it is supposed to be. Of course I can do it that way, but it would be nice to do it in tvpaint. Less troublesome.

OK, this file has an alpha channel but have a bug ( no alpha associated in the declaration field ).
The v9.5 will load it.

O.k. Thanks.
I haven't dowloaded betaversions since a while for the computer that I'm doing these scenes in.
