Experimenting with black and white and paper textures

Hello All

Here is a new animation in TVPaint I just finished. I have been experimenting with just black and white and different paper textures.

It is for a new sneaker brand. They are preparing a DVD with experimental films about the different sneaker models.

I hope you like it

Best,

David

superbe ! :)
did you use video-shots reference for your animation ?

Thanks!
Yes.. some are captures from youtube and most of them is me. :)
I shot myself and a snaple bottle at home and use them as reference. :) I copied them. not trace them. I have another computer next to mine where I can play quicktimes frame by frame and analyze them.
Pretty fun!!
:)

great stuff, ideed ! 8)
how long did it take to you for the whole clip production ?
and last question : why did you choose a 4/3 ratio,
as everybody use a 16/9 ratio by these days ...?

oh, the sound isn't that bad too, is it also from you ?

I did it very fast. 6 days. 10 hours a day more or less.
I like the 720x540 square pix format. The closest to the perfect square. Also because it is for a website and it will be in small resolution I think is the best format to appreciate detail.
I did the sound too yes. I bought an Edirol R-09 two years ago and I am doing a lot of field recordings. It is amazing that the quality is exactly the same as the one of a $1000 DAT recorder.

Hi David,

Very strong piece, I like the bold black and white render and the sound. Actually I think I've ridden in that same subway car and kicked the same bottle more than once - E train to Queens?

(Great concept!).

That was great, I really like the lighting when the door opened. Makes me want to experiment with lighting in animation.

Yes! Cool!
But what do you mean by HD version in PM?
I can upload a 720x540 quicktime and send you the link. What can of compression do you want.?? H.264? Sorenson 3?

Thanks

David

Very good, David. Like your visual storytelling. (Only the sun/moon at the very end is too much for me - although I know it is hinting to a phrase...)

BTW Fabrice,
now it is coming to my mind didn't you announce an update of the gallery "soon", weeks or a month ago

Yes, yes you are right, but it's very time consumming because some people just don't answer to our emails. :(
we need to have their agreement and also a good quality video, sometimes they want us to post on excerpts only, sometimes they have to ask to their schools/producers ... it's not so easy as it seems :|

Sorry, too much abbreviation :o
HD = High Definition
PM = private message.
:)

the 720x540 quicktime H.264 would be perfect !
