can you tell us exactly what you did step by step, I can't reproduce it here.
have you a project name selected in the tvpa browser ?
the "Import Footage" panel isn't the same than the "Open Project" panel.

it happens everytime in the layer-timerline-window: new/import footage/cancel -> opens some existing project

Timeline window (Layer) new/import footage/cancel -> doen't open anything here ...
tested on a tvpa pro v9.02, and on another computer with v9.04.
I've try also on an old partition with a tvpa v8.6.0 installed, and Cancel does cancel,
and nothing more ...
sorry, but for me, there's absolutely no bug here.
what tvpa version do you use ?

I see you've posted many subjects about your problems with tvp. Some of them are really strange (like that cancel bug...) : could you give me by PM your codes and / or your name ? (I can't find you on our dongle list because I don't know your name and your email address is not on our list).
I could verifiy if you've downloaded every updates. That could explain some of your bugs and TVP Animation's collapses
