I saw that someone has posted an high resolution mpeg of my animated film 'Seventeen' on piratebay.org , so if you know how to download torrents (with Azureus Zudeo or Utorrent) I can't stop you to download it.

Well none of my players can open it and I have quite a good collection so no one will be getting rich on this one.

Paul, I remember that I gave you a DVD of the film when you were in Amsterdam. That one should play definitely , but as I said before, I'm quite sure that it's not your cup of tea...

That was the first one I tried; nothing happens on both my computers. I have DivX, QT, WMV, Real, VLC, and a couple others I can't think of and none of them respond.

As soon as I open VLC it says Download complete -- as if it happened in a nanosecond. It's a disappointment to me because VLC has never failed me.

players can sometimes write that if the file is only partial.
did you make sure your whole +700mb file has downloaded via a bittorent client?
the file that Hisko was linking to is only the torrent file - which is the reference file.

That's probably what has happened. In order to download the film, it;s necessary to use a program like Vuze (Azureus) to let the torrent start downloading the file.
A 700 + file really takes a day at least to download.
I saw on piratebay that there is a whole series of animated festivalfilms gathered by someone called beltesassar. It's over 20 gig of animated films. If you type Beltesassar's short animation festival on piratebay you will find tons of animated shorts. I figured out that Beltesassar is a professor in the Netherlands, so maybe I know the guy without knowing it. I don't blame him for posting all this copyrighted material. Most animated shorts are too hard to find for the average guy so maybe this way more people will get in contact with us rare species.

It's very simple. Just install Vuze:

Than doubleclick on the file that you downloaded from piratebay.org and the file will start downloading automatically as long as the program is on. It's possible to download as many files as you want at the same time.

And I just found out that Vuze (the download program) can also play the .mpeg when you doubleclick the file after downloading.

Yes, I got it all working now -- it took about an hour to download. Nice work, though the story isn't for me. There should be something like an "O" rating; old people restricted. I'll never understand why there is so much connection seen between sex and violence in the popular thinking... has sex been connected with violence in your past? Well, whatever; it seems to be a common fantasy. The music is what one would expect from a film of this nature, so I suppose it's well done because it made me feel just as uncomfortable as the story.

Now mind you, this is all coming from a guy who just finished a film about the sex life of a dog and in focus groups I always see a few people of your age walk out after ten minutes ... of boredom, I suspect, so there's a huge cultural gap between our generations. Soon, films like ours will be downloadable on iPods and such devices, hopefully with a larger screens available and it will bring profit to all of us. Otherwise there will continue to be only generic Hollywood foolisness available to the masses and we elitists will have to take care of ourselves the way we are doing now. Thank God for independent filmmakers and software designers. The world is a better place because of us, even when we don't like each other's films at times.

I should know soon what happens to a film distributed for iPods -- PBS has acquired one of our films and we will be sharing the income with them. I'll report when we see our very first penny and I shall even report when the second one follows.
