How do u move a selection?

I just cant figure it out. I made a selection and I want to move it. I select the move tool, but it moves the entire image. How do I move just the selection I made?
2 ways :
a) "Cut to Brush" the selection, then (left-click) paste it by hand where you want it to be,
b) "Cut to Layer" the selection, so the selection's content is now in a separate layer,
turn Off the Stencil button, and pan/move it where you want.
