Are the pentools improved for TVP 9?

I'm playing around with the Demo and I feel like the pentool has improved by 200 %. Drawing is way smoother and nicer.
Is this just my imagination and the new layout playing tricks on me, or has it been truly improved?
Or could it be TVP9 is just far better responsive and better attuned to the settings of my computer or something?

Hi Boomslang,
We only added only a few options on the painting tools : there is only the Wet profile in the custombrushes, if I'm right.
But you are right, we added several optimizations to make TVP 9 much responsive.
About the pentool, Hervé made it more fluid and more subdivided to have better result on the display when you use the pressure option.
I will post a picture to explain it better

Thanks Herve, The watercolor-esque new options are very nice.
I was asking specifically about the pentool, it just seems a lot more responsive and free-er. Hard to put my finger on it. Did anyone else experience this?

I am also playing around with the version 9 demo, and likewise it feels to me like there is an improvement of the brushes. Although the drawing strokes in TVP 9 gets a slight delay when I am at a greater resolution than 400%. Could this be a bug in my demoversion? I haven't experienced it with some of the older versions.

Has anything changed with your Wacom tablet? Do you have a larger one since you last drew in TVP? Never underestimate the power of nuances of tablet settings; I have discovered that it is very important to find the best combination of tip-feel settings in Wacom, pen size in TVP, and drawing/project size of TVP's project window; all strong factors in influencing the feel of your stylus when drawing.

As I said, the pentool has been improved regarding the pressure (see below: you should see more "opacity steps" in the v8.0 and less in the v9.0)
Also, the responsivity has been improved too when drawing a curve.

My settings for my Wacom tablet is in order, yet I still get a delay in the linestroke when I draw at a resolution from 400% and up. Should I reload the demoversion?
Great thing about the line pressure in TVP 9

I have generally found such delays to be a graphics card issue. What do you mean by 400% and up; 400% of what? What size would your typical project window be? Mine is 1920 x 1080 and at times, when I work with camera moves, I might go up to 3000 x 3000 and have never had pen delays. Perhaps another odd instance of pen delays occur when my computer is multitasking, particularly when there is some rendering going on in another application.

When I say 400% I am talking about the zoom function - so when I am working at a drawing (in this case also 1920 x 1080) and zoom into the drawing, and I get to 400%, the linestroke makes a slight delay, it's perfectly responsive in anything below. I have nothing at all being rendered or what so ever - just TVP is opened.

I don't think that should make any difference in CPU power except for getting a very pixilated image. Do you have your Temp file on the same HD as your TVP application? Ideally, TVP's temp file should be on a seperate drive and the fastest and least used one, if you have a choice. Other than that I would probably try uninstalling Wacom all together, check out if you have their latest driver, and reinstall again.

Aah, great!
I suppose there aren't gonna be TVP 8 updates anymore that will incorporate these improvements in the pentool area?

I'll check it out - thanks
