Thank you for sharing this link - I didn't recognize who he was until I saw the Beatrix Potter work in his show reel! OMG!! I have that whole collection and it's one of my prized possessions! I really enjoyed watching the interview he did on the Little Vixen production. Very instructive. He has a lovely fluid line - reminds me a bit of Joanna Quinn's work - but maybe a little "crisper" (?) He certainly has a wide range to his work - very dynamic and dramatic.

Sorry I haven't been posting much lately - my day job is sucking the life out of me right now. :cry: But I hope to get back to the drawing table soon and have something to share!

I quite liked the bits I saw of the Toulouse Lautrec drawings brought to life. (from Dunbar's film titled simply "Lautrec"). I wish that were generally available for viewing , but to my knowledge it's not on VHS or DVD.

By the way, have you all seen that Tony White has posted his film tribute to Hokusai on YouTube :

I like it too. I think it made a first prize in Cannes, 70s. So maybe on some compilation, maybe at Chaletfilms.com. (Maybe Raymond knows more...)

For me it's a too much of McCartney sweetness in his later works, like the
Joanna Quinn ones it is a bit overdone.
I remember the early 80s when I was in at the RCA in London in times of the new wave of Expressionists ("Die Neuen Wilden") they were still teaching drawing the traditional way.
The pros was that they learned to observe nature, the cons that they took it soon to mannerism.


Anyway I like Dunbar's independent ones (Ubu, Toulouse...), but I saw only this excerpts so it's hard to judge.
