Hello:

The Paper Cut feature on the Animator's Toolbar was one of the reasons I bought Mirage.

I have been using the TV Paint Pro demo and haven't found a "Paper Cut" feature.

Is there a way to do what Paper Cut does that I haven't found yet?

Will TVPaint do paper cut?

You can use the Effects->Color->Scan Cleaner FX instead of Paper Cut now.

in the FXstack open: color>scancleaner
apply FX

for a one on one papercut (without the brightness adjustment typically used for scans)
make sure you first set the profile straight. to do this click in the black and white profile square, and make sure the graph line goes straight from corner to corner)

well, "one on one" paper cut will be fine only when your source is perfectly "equalized",
I mean luma scaled from black to white, or when you preliminary set a FX (Histogram, or Luma curve) to rectify your input raw images and get your paper pure white (255, 255, 255), and the lines pure black, (0, 0, 0),
otherwise, you always will have to tweak the curve according to your scan material,
i.e., if your scanned (or shooted) images are low-contrasted (lines = dark-grey, paper = light-grey),
you will have to set a curve more "vertically" (see pict.),
a straight profile (from corner to corner) on this kind of source would get you a grey mist in the background,
and weak lines (slightly transparent here and where), so tweak it with the preview = ON,
and when it looks fine, Apply the FX on the Layer.

i ment to point out that the default scan cleaner profile setting is ment for scans (and it can be further tweaked as you discribed so clearly above)
If you want to remove the white from a digital drawing (which by its nature will be perfectly "equalized") a straight setting is the only way to prevent any loss of line.
