How to position many drawings on 1 layer?

Hi! Sorry in advance, I think this is going to be a stupid question;

Let's say I have a layer which contains 39 or more images on 2s running at 24fps when I export, it's of a man riding a bike.

He's too high up on the screen, can I move the entire animation (all frames) down lower? Without having to go into each individual image and move him using the panning tool, which would also mean displacing the animation because I'll have to use onion skinning to position each image back in the right place. I tried selecting all the images, but it still only moves the image the play head is on.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Select all the frames underneath the thumbnail images, so they're highlighted in yellow. Or click the layer and then hit Ctrl+A. Then go to the Transform Tool and make sure the apply to selected box is checked. Move one of the drawings and hit apply.

Davids method works fine, here is another one that i often use:

1) move the first frame in the desired position using the panning tool
2) press Undo (this one seems odd but trust me)
3) double click under your animlayer (all frames are now selected - you see the yellow band)
4) press Enter.

Voila!

what enter does is to repeat the last action with any tool...in this case the panning tool.
so you repeat the exact same move on all selected frames
the step 2) undo is to prevent the first frame from being moved twice

a third alternative consists to use the KeyFramer in the FX-stack :
set the Y value so the height fit to your wish,
then double-click under your animlayer to Select All Frames, and Apply.
the advantage is that in this way, you can preview the offset on your whole anim
just by using the [play] button of your preview window;
after having checked everything will be ok all over the anim, Apply the stack.

Brilliant, thanks!

I tried all 3 ways and they all work. There was a slight problem, each drawing was exposed for 2 frames (on 2s), when I apply the 3 methods, it splits the frames into 2 so that there is now 24 pics instead of 12. But the anim comes out the same so it doesn't really matter in the end :wink:

use the Layer/Recompute command on the Animlayer,
or better (third way only), use the FXR or FXH button from the Instance Panel,
instead of the Apply button of the stack.

ps : the "FXH" button is for "Apply FX on Heads only",
and is available in the Instance Panel v1.2.1 you would find in this thread.
:wink:

Hi ZigOtto,

Sorry for the late reply. I downloaded your Instance-Panel but I don't know how to install it, you said to put it in the george folder in that thread, but I don't seem to have a george folder in my TVPaint Animation folder. Plus there are other files that I don't know where they're supposed to go. Could you help please?

Right-Click on the Custom Panel icon in the main panel, and go to "Load a New ToolBar ..." in the popup menu,
then browse and select the xxxxxx.bin file.

oh, if you don't already have one , create it, and copy the xxxxxx.grg file(s) into it.
