hello!
i have been trying to import large PSD files into TVP.
(i am talking about pan-paper size Layouts)
the time for each file is almost an hour
(have tried in mac and pc -both with 4gb ram dual xeons)
any ideas what i should do during saving the PSD's? in case it is my fault?
thanks..
J.

Hi,
TVPaint is slow to import PSD, It's a know issue.
But if the file is in a network drive, it's even slower.
What is your file size and resolution ?

the psd is quite big although the information in it is not much colorwise...
it is a seven layer 4000x1200 for a truck in and pan motion of the camera
all layers are flat colored with an alpha..
it seems that doing it manually
(exporting 7times tga's with RGBA info) is much faster
...
the problem is that with this pipeline we get artwork from adobe illustrator
(as clean forms) and then go on tvpainting them
so the best way to keep the OL/UL information of the layers is exporting from AI to PSD ...
...it think...

I think you are right about the photoshop workaround with only 7 layers.
It takes time to open a layerd photoshop document.
I worked on a photo-animation: a 50 layered 950 Mb psd-file (resolution 3000X2008 with layermasks in each layer) on a dual quad core mac with 2 GB RAM and it took about 15 minutes to open the file in TVP.
Plenty of time to make a coffee
