Some brushes don't work well in 8.5

I like the update 8.5 very much, however there are some things that bug me. For example, All of a sudden, the chalk brush (the one in the contents section) doesn't draw smoothly anymore. (it did in the older version)
And especially the brushes with the new 'shift' option run veeery slow.
I guess it must be my computer (powerbook G4) which must be a bit outdated. Does anyone else have this problem and do you know a solution?

yes, it occurs specially with some big (huge...!) brushes, like the chalk one,
... 1391x730 is pretty big for a chalk stick thickness ... but the tool size parameter is set to 8% max,
so what you can do is to edit the original brush and reduce its size to about 25%* (edit/ lock aspect, ...),
then modify the size setting of your tool to 32.00% (instead of 8.00%),
finally, right-click on the tool's button, and select "Grab Current tool ... keep icon"
now, using it, you would have the same drawing tool, but a bit more "optimised" for old processors,
I mean working more fluently, more responsively.
*
or more...
ps: to achieve your optimisation properly, you can "clean" the the tool commands :
right-click on your tool's button, and delete the useless first 4 lines (left-click/None on each one).
... and don't forget to save your config when leaving TVPA.
my 2 cents.

Another thing I noticed, when I use the 'Add' function in 8.5,
the brush isn't limited to the overlay part but exceeds it.
Quite hard to explain this in English, but here's a pic to make my point more vivid;

as you can see, multiply works fine but there's something wrong with add.

it a new Add mode ability, because some users asked it ...
if you want to avoid to paint outside the existing shape, check on the "Lock Alpha" button.

hm, where is this 'lock alpha'-button? It's not in the color alpha alpha stamp etc. panel. Can't find it elsewhere..

ah i assume you ment the disable enable transparancy button. That works.

you got it !
more exactly "
enable/disable Preserve Transparency",
or "
Lock Alpha" for those (like me) who are lazy with the keyboard.

You can also use the screen mode instead of the add mode. (the screen mode does not preserve the transparency)
