Just found this classic today which is mentioned in every book, but seldom shown in entirety. It's from 1974 and one of the first films done with vector graphics on a computer.

It would be more fitting to describe this animation style as metamorphoses, as we clearly can see in the very first scene that the transformed faces are classically linear = bad inbetweens.
