Hi!
As I animate my workflow includes leaving blank empty instances between every drawn instance, so that when I playback what I've animated the animation will 'blink' which helps gauge how the motion will flow how once I've created all the inbetweens.
Sometimes, however, I want to see how the animation would play without those blank instances and in those cases my method has been to overwrite the blank instances with the ones before it by clicking and dragging the the drawn instance over the empty instance.
I wonder if there was some kind of copy-and-paste keystroke method for this that I could use to make a button. The button would look at an individual instance (empty or not) and overwriting it with the previous instance.
My original attempt looked like this. It goes to the previous instance, copies it, goes back to the original instance, pastes, recomputes exposures to merge these two instances, and then moves on to the next instance
This didn't work because copying one instance onto another instace also copies the length of the instance, meaning the timings will change
Any ideas on fixing this approach? Playing with auto break- and auto create instances options didn't work either
I'm sure this could be done by scripting in a way where all empty instances were overwritten at the click of a button -- and this kind of script would be appreciated as well -- but first and foremost I'm interested in doing this with keystrokes, so that I can later teach the method to less technically inclined friends who wont be excited to hear the phrase "just use a script for it!"
Keystrokes for overwriting one instance with the one before it?
Re: Keystrokes for overwriting one instance with the one before it?
Hello,
I think you are just looking for the delete instance head in the keyboard shortcuts.
Layer:Exposure:Delete Instance Head

Wow, incredible, it was so simple and obvious.
Thank you!
Now I got a simple button that deletes instance head, and then goes two instances forward (which will be a blank instancce), now I can easily delete blinks as I wish just by clicking a button!
