Support/arm for screen?

Post by mox »

Looking for advice regarding arms for screens bigger than 34' and for supporting at least 7Kg
I'm not targetting the cheapest ones for sturdiness reason but nothing that costs an arm and a leg either :D

Since I never used one, my (baseless) fear is the arm loses a bit of its strength and drops the screen...

i have been using a wall mounted Ergotron for my cintiq 27 for some years now,
I'm very happy with it... no sagging as of yet
i can comfortably rest my arm on it without it dropping.

Thanks Peter!
Ergotron is a strong candidat, maybe a bit pricey for my purpose...

yes, if just to hold your screen in place, it is likely overkill.

I also use an Ergotron HX, which I bought because I thought it would be more sturdy than the LX since it is for heavier monitors. Alas, I should have read more clearly as the minimum weight is 20lbs or so, and my tablet is not that heavy! I decided to keep it and bought a 1/2 inch steel plate from a scrap yard and drilled holes into it so I could screw through to the vesa mount from the arm.

I would be curious is anyone has used an LX and HX and if there is indeed any difference? There is a bit of movement, which seems inevitable, but I don't really notice it anymore.

BTW, if you go with an ergotron, you can get them off amazon for a better price than elsewhere. If you are getting an Ergotron LX, look at the amazon basics monitor arm, (at least when I was looking) it is apparently an Ergotron LX with the amazon brand attached to it for a significant price reduction.
