Import Photoshop swatches

Post by mikdog »

I've tested with various file types on https://lospec.com/palette-list but nothing seems like it will import into TVPaint's option to import swatches.
It would be great to be able to import a Photoshop swatch to TV Paint, or any of the multitude of file types.

There's a way if you import the picture of the palette.
Open the Color Panel, choose Palette in the menu, right click to open menu then "New Palette > From Current Image"
You'll have all the colors but the order won't be the same (from light to dark)...

Yes, a swatches group (palette) can be exported from Photoshop as an .aco file.

There may be other applications that can import .aco file (I think Clip Studio Paint can do it). I believe that is what he is asking for in TVPaint.

As suggested by mox, you could take a screenshot of the swatch panel in Photoshop, then import to TVPaint and Open the Color Panel, choose Palette in the menu, right click to open menu then "New Palette > From Current Image" .

Using an online app like ACO File Viewer https://aco-viewer.appspot.com you can open an .aco file to get a nice large image of the swatch panel (then take a screenshot of that and import to TVPaint)
