New user, new project

Hi guys, I'm new here. Been spending a looong time trying to learn TVPaint. Watched (and rewatched) plenty of the official YouTube tutorials, perused these boards and other people's YouTube videos.
Our company kindly purchased the software for me some time ago, and it's been sitting largely unused as I've been trying to get my head around it and haven't quite yet built up the confidence to make something.
Think I finally kind of have enough of an idea to start on a short trailer for my new project. Been drawing the backgrounds on Procreate on iPad. I and a friend did the script years ago, voices and animatic were also done some time ago. Bit of a passion project with about a 20 min runtime - I know that's a big undertaking but I've tried to be as economic as I can and the pace is kind of laconic and slow.

If @Slowtiger is here, hi! Great seeing all your posts. Reminds me of the old Moho days. Slowtiger helped me a lot in my animation journey with his kind assistance and willingness to share in the LostMarble forums.

I'm from South Africa.

Anyways, looking forward to my TVPaint journey and connecting with you guys.

*blush* Hi Mike, nice to see you here! It has been several years ... did I ever tell you how I have been at MIFA in Annecy and recognized your logo at the South Africa stand?

Ha! Wow! Ah man, haven't been to Annecy fest in a while (I was there last year but tickets were sold out hehe). Stoked you spotted the SA stand! Thanks for the reply!

Made this in an afternoon:

Still getting to grips with the software but once I got going, is a lot nicer-feeling and quicker than what I'm used to.

Love the dedication, any long term commitment to a project will have its slow moments but I'm happy to see you are progressing, glad to have you here :)

Generally studios film the feature then construct a trailer with footage from the completed feature afterwards.

This is your first feature. You are certain to learn a lot as you construct a full length film for the first time. No matter how short.

Typically, the trailer is bate to get attention and create interest in seeing the feature. You would want to put your best foot forward. Not your first foot forward.

If you film the trailer first you will be learning everything as you take every step.

To get the most bang for your effort you would be better off doing the feature first. Once you have that wrapped up you will be able to use some of it in the trailer.

Thanks Ampy! I've made a film before :D you're right, typically a project would be funded first, made and then the trailer cut from it. I got a bit of development funding for the script and animatic, so I'm cutting a little sizzle trailer from it on my own dime to a) learn TVPaint and b) share to contacts to see what appetite for further funding is.
I appreciate the comment!

Did a little thing over the weekend for a competition from a project called 'Nouns' for their character called 'Poppy':

Slooowly but surely getting the hang of the TVP workflow. Great to have the storyboard thing built in.
