TVPaint Quality

Good morning, I'm new to tvpaint and trying to figure out why the quality of the brushes are so poor. I would use a HB pencil and it always comes out blurry. Is there a way of fixing this?

Not sure of what you expect. Try disabling the anti-aliasing in the tool options ?

What are the dimensions of your project? Is this the result after exporting with No Conversion?

OK, the settings show that you're upscaling something. That's not a good idea, of course any line will appear blurrier. But your example looks like you've blown up something 4x. Did you zoom in very far and this is the result?

I agree that the image posted above in the first post looks like it was zoomed-in. I think to get a true look at the pencil line quality the image needs to be at 1920 x 1080 HD resolution (or higher) at actual size 100% , not zoomed-in 200% or 300% or more. Or , even if you use the lower-resolution 1280 x 720 , don't export it at a larger resolution or zoom-in on it.

Attached are some test sketches using "HB pencil" from a pencil set by NARI , drawn at 1920 x 1080. Results will vary depending on which pencil tool is used , but you mentioned HB pencil , so this is one I have that is specifically labeled as an "HB". (which HB pencil did you use?)

I tried to draw over yours to reproduce the strokes you used (with some additional scribbling of my own) , but drawn at full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. I adjusted the HB Pencil to various widths and opacity as I was drawing. Most of the time I used it at the default size, at 100% opacity, but sometimes I increased the size and lowered the opacity to simulate a softer, blunt pencil.

I wanted to mention that from the second screen shot you posted showing the project dimension settings it appears that you're using TVPaint 10. That shouldn't make any difference to the line quality, but you should update to the current version 11.5. TVPaint 10 was retired 6 years ago when TVPaint v11 replaced it. If you're using the cracked version 10.0.16 that could account
for the image quality problem. The crack is known to be buggy and often has malware hidden in it , so it could harm your computer.

Hello Darryl, which precise version of TVPaint 10 are you currently using?
