Recently I've been using Adobe Animate (Flash) on a freelance job. I noticed in Adobe Animate if you have images stored in the library you can click on the image and choose Edit in Adobe Photoshop (Digicel Flipbook also has this feature).
The selected image is opened up in Photoshop , you can make any changes you want on the image , then click Save. The image is then automatically updated in the library (and on the Timeline) in Adobe Animate or Digicel Flipbook.
This seems like it would be a good function to have in TVPaint, but instead of Edit the image in an external application (Photoshop) the image would be edited in TVPaint. The option could be to click on an image stored in the Library and you can choose Edit the image. After the image has been adjusted and you click Save , the edited image will be automatically updated in the Library.
The only way to do this now is a rather convoluted workaround: click on an image in the Library , choose Create A New Project From This Image , which opens the image in a new TVPaint project. Then you can make changes to the image, then move it into the Image Library in the new project , then click on it to Copy it , then Paste it back in to the original project's Library. The requested feature would eliminate this manual copying and pasting of the edited image by having it automatically updated in the image's original location in the Image Library.

Re: Edit and Update images in Image Library
Bump.
Is it possible in the current engine to add this function to edit images stored in the Image Library ? Right-click on the Image > Edit Image > opens the image in a new TVPaint project window, make changes, then in the right-click pop up menu have the option Save Image back to it's original location in the Image Library , which will automatically save/update the edited image to the Image Library. The difficulty I can foresee is that the current version of the Image Library is based on each TVPaint Project having a unique Image Library. If an image stored in the Image Library of TVPaint Project "A" (original project) is opened in a new TVPaint Project "B" (temporary project) to edit it , is it possible to direct it to save the edited image back to the original TVPaint Project "A" Image Library ?
But somehow this task can be done in Adobe Animate and Digicel Flipbook (also in After Effects) to edit an image in an external application (Photoshop) and have it automatically update the image in it's location (on the Timeline or in the Library) in the original application , so it seems like it should be possible to do it all within TVPaint, editing and updating images stored in the Image Library.

This is indeed one of the main issues, and there's no easy solution for this.D.T. We do plan on doing some work on the Library in 11.5.2, like the ability to create a clip from an image, or importing multiple images from a folder at once, but this will take longer and, if doable, won't be in the next update.

I like the idea. But David, please I cannot cope with the pace of all the things to doD.T.
