Nice and sweet indeed, but I couldn't help but think of all those kids who were injured when they climbed into real bear's containments at zoos, because all they knew was the "sweet teddy bear" on TV, and nothing about the real animal.

This is Walt Disney's legacy to the world. Actually one of the big reasons I chose J.R. Ackerley's scatological tale about his dog Tulip -- to remind the world what real dogs do best besides hump each other before they reach for their master's legs. After 100 Dalmatians hit its box office peak, the dog rescues around the world began to fill up with unwanted and unloved Dalmatians.

It was done by Pauline Jurvillé. If you remember her, she was in our team during 6 months, from Jaunary to June 2012
then, she decided to change everything. She stopped animation and she's now learning Haute-Couture

But anyway, Paul is right. Each time a film is released featuring a "new" breed, shelters and good dog breeders (the ones who care about their dogs and not about money) are afraid of a new fashion...
A recent example was the movie Hatchi (based on the true story of Hachiko), featuring a Japanese Akita inu. After this movie, it was the panic, because many families took this breed at home. Unfortunately, even if Akita Inus are fluffy lovely-looking dogs, they are very uncommon dogs. They behave more like cats than dogs (very independent, do not live in hounds because they hates other dogs, do not like orders and choose their own master). Moreover, they are VERY strong (those dogs were basically used for bear hunting...).
Shelter were then full of Akita Inus...

Another example, maybe less tragic, is "Finding Nemo" : Pet stores were asked only for clownfishes
