I agree with Brusen and Paul Fierlinger. It would be a very useful feature. Maybe a better way to describe it is:

scrubbing the timeline by holding down a keyboard key and moving the mouse/tablet horizontally

Scrubbing in the timeline feels more clumsy and can be difficult depending on the zoom level. Giving the action the option of scrubbing between instances and frames, as well as a sensitivity adjustment would make it perfect, in my opinion :D

Paul Fierlinger wrote:... yet a big drawback is that the scrubbing continues even after I release my keyboard key. It should have the ability to stop precisely on a desired frame, and of course to scrub horizontally. If it worked only when the pen tip is in direct contact with the tablet's surface, that would be a huge improvement.
+1
the fact is that this "Flip Manually" feature
1) does flip by vertical displacement, it's ok when you are in X-Sheet mode, but counter-intuitive when you are in timeline mode,
2) it's a "Flip" option, (Flip = Scrub around + Go-back to the initial "Current" frame)
so, in my opinion, I can see 2 useful improvements :
1) make it work Horizontally when in Timeline view, and Vertically (only) when in X-Sheet view,
2) add a new option "Scrub" mode, which should "Scrub and Stay" where it has been stoped,
in addition to the actual "Flip" mode, which is flipping and going back to the starting point.

that could be a "must have", skipping frames when the gesture have got some speed (velocity relative),
but scrubbing frame by frame (or instance by instance) when slowly moving the pen.

Talking about "Preview > Flip Manually":

Yes exactly, that would definitely do the job! :)
Thank you all for the support, it would be the final touch for your amazing software in my opinion. At least then my shortcut hand will rest a little more and I can focus more on the animation.

+1 for all the suggestions above :1- horizontal scrubbing 2- having the options to flip instances and not just frames ( this is a must, not having this makes it almost useless for me) 3- the possibility to stop on any frame to make a change ( it s very frustrating not bo be able to do that).
i really like this feature, i think these few changes will release its full potential .
