Hi Svengali, great script ! Can you post your modified version that allows to move to instances heads only (or better still, a tvpx if you have one)? i could really use this ! thanksSvengali wrote:
Here's the simple code that does that. Actually I use a slightly more sophisticated pair of scripts that keep me on head frames and which does a number of other, conditional things as well.

Draw on repeated frames

Re: Draw on repeated frames
I can do better than that. Skip my scripts altogether and use these slick, new shortcut keys... (new to me anyway)piano wrote:Hi Svengali, great script ! IF you want to use the arrow keys to move through any current layer on heads only (Left and Right) use the following shortcut key commands:
1. Right Arrow Heads only (no loop) = Layer: Exposure: Go to Next Instance
2. Left Arrow Heads only (no loop) = Layer: Exposure: Go to Previous Instance
At the same time, you can have looping at the end or beginning of the layer with shifted arrow keys by assigning the following shortcut keys commands:
3. Shift-Right Arrow Heads only (with loop) = Layer: Exposure: Next Loop
4.Shift-Left Arrow Heads only (with loop) = Layer: Exposure: Prev Loop

Re: Draw on repeated frames
I think they should be the key-mapped default to left and right arrow .piano wrote:wow, how long have these existed ? awesome ! thanks !Svengali wrote: 3. Shift-Right Arrow Heads only (with loop) = Layer: Exposure: Next Loop

Re: Draw on repeated frames
Why don't you simply use this arrow ?
It automatically sends you to the first instance.
It automatically sends you to the first instance.
Re: Draw on repeated frames
Because when animating, that button is not intuitive at all, but going to the next frame and being able to modify the image is.Elodie wrote:Why don't you simply use this arrow ?

Whether it's the last/first/middle image of the cycle wouldn't even concern the animator if the software would allow it.

Re: Draw on repeated frames
So you could :
* use the Image Mark panel ;
* set a key to "next / previous" marked image to quickly switch between ;
* eventually configure your light table to see marked images, and not all instances.

I know Elodie
Just to make this clear, there might be thousands of workarounds (and thanks for the suggestions), but this IS a feature request.
I don't really understand the resistance. In the video I posted it's clear that the current behaviour is not wishful at all, isn't it?
Especially with Auto-break-instance/Auto-break-exposure disabled, it would be nice to still be able to draw.

It's not resistance LukasLukas wrote:I don't really understand the resistance.
Our role is to give answers and tell if it's possible or not, if it's fast to do or not for developers, if it's interesting or not, and how you can also bypasses your need by a feature you maybe ignored.
It's great to request features, but you must also accept that all your requests are not always that important / interesting and can be subject to critics.
This is a forum, we are here to talk. If you just want an unilateral conversation, just send us an anonymous letter.
Re: Draw on repeated frames
Okay. I noticed I'm the only one who thinks this would be nice to have, in which case I understand it's too much trouble. Too bad really

Re: Draw on repeated frames
Well, just to chip in; If this feature was available I think I'd use it a lot when animating loops!
Right now I'm using workarounds but something like this would make it easier and more efficient.
