I neve imagined myself drawing on TVPaint in portrait mode, rotating the tablet so the software runs tall, but it can be very useful for some things!!

Looking at these pictures I can see how well this demonstrates (after I stop blushing) my theory that drawing even large formats by shrinking them to a relatively small size helps one "get it" better. By getting it I mean proper proportions mostly, because what we do is essentially that stepping away from the canvas and model process, to embed proper dimensions of the model in our memories.
In a real life studio the artist would then have to step back to the canvas to start drawing, jump away to get the whole picture, leap forward to draw a detail -- just like in a comedy show. But in the digital world we can make the canvas jump to us and that is what makes drawing so mush easier and more efficient.

I certainly keep the navigator panel handy for constant zooming in and out, but on top of that, when working on proportions, I even use the custom brush tool. If I feel something is in the wrong place, i pick it up with the custome brush tool and move it. That’s one of the things I love about working in the digital world. Previously, if I stepped back and saw the body was too long, or too short, I had to erase and redraw. Now, I just pick up a custom brush and move things to their proper place.

And the same goes for animating. When I used to discover that I have created too much space between individual drawings, I either had to add in betweens or start over. Now I just move drawings closer to each other (or sometimes further apart -- it takes just seconds).

The Galaxy Wars are
not over!
I have actually been using the tablet and drawing almost daily in months since my last post, but I am often
too lazy to post the work, or format the images so that display well here. Usually I create images for ideal viewing on the tablet or in the specs of HD video, but they tend to work better if they are much smaller here.

This is a nature image I did using some of the special brushes in the right side panel, like the trees and leaves. I also used the water color and fat paint brush. Originally I recorded the process, but the file was too big and ended up corrupt.

This is my first attempt to try uploading a file using the attachment feature on the site. I guess if it is easy, I'll do that more often, and then maybe I will post more.

Here are some more older images done in the gap since October. I have too many to post them all, so I will post those I think aren't too horrible...

That previous image didn't quite work out like the nature image. I like that the previous image showed a thumbnsil that one clicks to see tge full image. Maybe because this time I did it on the tablet and got a different result. Anyway, here is another.
