Re: Newsletter !
I'm glad you noticed and explained in a more concise way. I suggested to Fabrice, when we were setting this up, that we do this in a form of a discussion rather than just the obligatory Q&A. I even suggested that the discussion should continue with anyone who wants to participating.

about his personal perception of the film, or about his approach of this craft,
btw, have he seen "Tulip" achieved, in its final state ?

Re: Newsletter !
No, he hasn't. I believe only TVPaint management has seen it. It will most likely premiere at Annecy, unless Cannes accepts it into competition, which we all doubt. Other distribution plans have changed slightly; it will play in all (or most) art houses in the U.S. starting September 16th in New York and the rest of Sept in all other states -- no one can tell how long the movie will stay in any of those theaters, depending on demand of the local populations.
It will run the same way in the U.K. in October but there is not yet an opening date for London. Other countries are still up in the air as far as distribution goes; the producers are still working on that, and again, it depends on what Cannes will do with us.
Otherwise I am not permitted to give it to anyone right now, sorry.

so I understand better his questions's orientation now ...Paul Fierlinger wrote:No, he hasn't.
it must be hard to interview a filmmaker on his last film without having seen it ... (or having only seen the few clips on your site).
anyway, I cross my fingers for Cannes and Annecy festivals admissions (more chances for Annecy than for Cannes imo).

Re: Newsletter !
so we've been told. Many French distributors warned our producer that the Cannes festival is attended mostly by a very young audience and Tulip is not what they would consider exciting. The best sneak preview we got was from the editors of Bark magazine, a slick (and surprisingly intellectual) dog magazine out of San Francisco. They found the film flawless.(more chances for Annecy than for Cannes imo).
Not many other people have, so far.

I agree with you, I think there will be soon a link on the newsletter on the homepage ^^ZigOtto wrote:I agree with Peter, when a new newsletter is coming, a one-click link should be presentPeter Wassink wrote:... there is no link to the newsletter on the homepage (or anywhere else?)
you can subscribe to very prominently in a central window on the homepage but its not possible to visit it !?.... bad webdesign!
(and OBVIOUSLY present) on the home page,
and why not, a secondary (smaller) link to the archived older newsletters.
I am the author of this illustration (and I'm really honored you thought it was Rony or Lemec )btw, who's the (chinese) happy new year illustration at top of the page ?
too bad the author is not mentioned ... or am I becoming blind ?
is it from Rony ? ... Lemec ?

cool! ... even the chinese calligraphic stuff ?Elodie wrote:I am the author of this illustration (and I'm really honored you thought it was Rony or Lemec )btw, who's the (chinese) happy new year illustration at top of the page ?

the drawing is very welldone, the only weakness to my eyes is the colouring,
I know some decorative pieces in chinese craft are coloured with "bad taste"
(a least from a modern european point of view), as in the sample below :
but I think you could keep distant from these references,
and improve your green/yellow/pink palette assortment.
for your next graphic collaboration, please sign it "Elodie" or "pinky Cow",

Re: Newsletter !
yep, even the calligraphic stuff was drawn with my hand ^^
On the left, it's written in chinese, and on the right, it's written in japanese (cause website will be soon in japanese, so I thought it will be great to wish "happy new year" with their ideograms too ^^)
That's right, colors are really sweet, in comparaison with their bright coloured advertising ^^ I wanted to make something that looks like old chinese painting, with only some thin down color and black ink. I'll do better for Tiger Year =) (hehe, a cow dress up as a tiger... it could be fun )
Thanks a lot for your advises =)
