what do you read ?
Whoa, hidden functions! or not..

Anyways. Here's what I got:
write() 91.016420s MB/s
read() 59.358486s MB/s

Edit:
I tried same on elmisilhumano's quad core mac pro:
write() 47.977774s MB/s
read() 76.835345s MB/s

Funny numbers. elmisilhumano has only one disk when xp64 workstation has raid0 with two disks.

edit2:
I guess this means that tvpaint uses temp folder on our xp64 workstation?

OK, i found the bug,
in the first test (proxy) TVPaint alloc a Big DMA buffer (32MB) and in the second TVPaint alloc only a 8 MB buffer.

I think that xp64 have a problem with big buffers.

Keep your temp folder, the bug is ONLY on the benchmark.

and, for all those who are new to tvpaint and read this thread, the compute function comes to check for the ideal read/write rate. It does not mean that it has to be used. The higher the value the longer it's going to take the proxy file to render. If you have a single disk setup, try setting the value manually to a lower rate, starting from 1MB going up, to see the difference in workflow. You can get very quick renders in low quality for previews of motion and overall flow, even of long timelines. It's quite a valuable tool to have.
