I can't figure out how a 1280 x 720 size animatic of 3 minutes in length with one image per shot gets to 3.6 GB. (unless you are adding FX to the shots? )

As an experiment I made a clip with one image held for 1 second (24 frames). I duplicated that clip 180 times , so I have an animatic project of 4320 frames which is 3 minutes.

The size of the file is 81.9 MB. Even turning off the Save with TVPP Compression in the Preferences the file size only went up to 201 MB .

32GB of RAM is twice what I have on my machine (16GB) so I would think you could allow for more RAM to be dedicated to TVPaint when it is running . If you're not running any other apps that demand a lot of resources (such as After Effects) while you're running TVPaint at the same time it should be ok. (although I don't have Windows, so I don't really know how that works.)

Yours says 90 MB. You could try increasing the undo parameter to the default 256MB or slightly higher (I have mine set to 315MB). See if that has any effect on the performance .

Yes, I have a lot of FX, but I didn't mention it since I have been adding it in the past (on an old computer) and I know they're not supposed to lag everything so much. Also I have quite fast editing, so that's probably why 3GB. But my point is, I know how much TvPaint is supposed to be able to take and how much it isn't. This animatic should not be this demanding. You already stated that 3GB is not much so I think we're focusing on the wrong thing.

I have nothing else open beside browser.
Is there any other parameter in Tvpaint's settings beside undo that can help performance?

Does this lag occur with every file you open in TVPaint or does it happen only with this animatic file ?

In Preferences under Save do you have TVPP Compression enabled ?

It's with every file. Yes, I have the compression enabled.
Someone suggested that the issue might be because my processor is AMD Ryzen, not intel, maybe that needs different settings?

Let's check basics: you say it's only 1 image per shot.
- Is it also 1 frame, or is ist several frames? How many frames has the whole project?
- how many layers?

We already established that it's not about the ammount/size of images/frames/effects, because I've worked on way bigger files in the past, so I feel like I know how tvp should work with them.

Sometimes it's one image, sometimes it's few. I would say on avarage it's 2-3 images, each lasting for avarage 15 frames, avarage 2 layers. Project has 42 clips, around 1000 frames, no audio and now is at 4:30 min (4fps 720p).

But like I already said, it acted the same way when it was 2 clips and 4 images at the very beginning when I started working.
