Hello, I'm not sure where to ask this, but will the TVPaint 11 Manual be available to download or can be accessed from the software offline in the future?
Thanks. A

It used to be so (V10.5) that you could press either 'shift', 'ctrl' or no button to get the same behavior but without being interrupted by the pop requester . Can this requester be turned off in V11?
Guys, can I get an answer to this please? I'm struggling with it because it is quite disruptive to the workflow.
Thanks.
I'd also like to be able to turn this feature off, and revert to the old way... A toggle?

I actually like it better, because everything can be done with one hand without taking my eyes off the timeline so it makes for more precise placement, giving me a chance to make sure the frames will fall exactly where I want them to be. I think this streamlines the task.

I also think a toggle would be great. I prefer working the old way.

May I asked what prompted the developers to change this functionality? Because I've never noticed any complaints about these particular options in V10 and 10.5.
At least not on this forum (but I might have overlooked it).

:)

We had a bunch of complaints ...
But it's true that the forum is not representative of the complete list of users and feedbacks.

It's in our plan, but it will require some time to make it happen.

furushil wrote:Hello,

after reading all the comments here, I finally get to test TVP11 too !

Here is my first question: Do I still have to run TVP11 in "low-resolution" mode on a retina display?
I remember Thierry say this in the past here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7029&p=69828&hilit ... lay#p69828" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's not something that the user can do, but something that must be done in TVPaint's code : using a function provided by Apple that only works on OS X 10.7 or later (as the Retina display screens appeared when 10.7 was the current OS). However, we still support OS X 10.6.8, so we can't use it.
We could abandon 10.6.8 support so the Retina issue would be solved very quickly, but there's too many people that still use this OS (it's like Windows XP, there is still a lot of people that use it)
But now it appears that TVP11 is not running on 10.6.8 anymore.
TVP11 still seems to run choppy in high resolution mode, so for now I guess it is best to set it to "low-resolution". Is that correct?
Will check on monday with the Mac specialists.

The timeline copy and paste feature was discussed in the past (due to this f.... search limitations I am not able to find the post). A toggle between the old and the new way would be nice. I would prefer the old way, but the new way is maybe more understandable for new users. Referencing to the old discussion it surprises me, that the developers didn't added a simple "cut and insert" function. In my opinion the most needed function when sorting frames.

Has anything changed in the way that manipulated images are treated in order to avoid degradation of the line quality? That is, better anti aliasing and no anti aliasing when it is a simple move?
We keep trying to improve, step after step.
f.i : The "smart" option has been added in the custom brush tool.
I notice that the wonderful "smart" only exists in the Transform tool and I wonder why this is not available in every manipulation tool so that the user can just trust that TVPaint will figure out the best way to do the job. Why does the Perspective tool still have None, Medium and Best option? Who wants any less than Best? This only leads to accidentally using an inappropriate setting.
The problem is that what one think is the best, might not be the best for other people.
I mean :
Not all people want to use the "smart" option. Some people just use the "none" option all time (like some people in Japan) then apply the AntiAliasing after, during the coloring post-processing.
With some other tools or workflow, people wants to keep "medium" all the time.
I wish I can post some exemples, but we have a NDA with such companies.
I notice also that the fabulous new Warp tool has no such settings. Is that because it is doing what I am requesting for the other tools, which is just figuring out the best way for the highest quality?
It's a completely different tool and algorythm, so the classic None/Medium/Best/Smart does not apply here.
Depending on the geometry of the shape and the geometry of the transformation, we can provide some algorythm, or not.
Speaking of the Warp tool, I love the way I can lock the line using the Shift key, but then, as soon as I move to the next instance of the same character, to continue the warp, all the locked positions are lost and I have to do them over. So say I am stretching the head of a character and want the body to remain locked. I have to click a number of points on the body, stretch the head, go to the next instance and then, to continue the head stretch animation, I have to lock all those points again, and I have to be sure to do it exactly as the last instance so as to maintain the body the same way, which is pretty tricky. Sooooo, is there a way to use warp where it maintains the lock positions from instance to instance?
Did you try it with the Library as explained in the previous topic pages ?
Maybe should one open a topic about the new Warp tool. :)

I remember a discussion about 'cut' and 'insert' but not one about a pop-up requester. 'Cut' and 'insert' would be welcome additions to the frame dragging options, but in my opinion, pop-up requesters are usually not a good idea. Unless absolutely necessary, like when renaming frames, for example.

It's in our plan during the V11 life.

And now something about the Library:

- This is really a great feature! I think, I would use it a lot.
- The ability to use Library-Pictures as Guides is also very great. (a killer feature ;-))

Some little ideas for the future:
- It would be cool if I could use the library like the color mixer to pick up colors on the fly (without selecting the pipette before)
- it would be more cool if the library has possibilities like Young Monkeys PicturePalette PlugIn.
- it would be cool to have a "copy from Clipboard to library"-feature. It is more comfortable than "copy from Clipboard to brush" and then "Copy from Brush to Library"

BTW:
Unfortunately I remarked, that it is no more possible to use the "color variations panel" and the "color mixer panel" at the same time. Am I right here? That is really not nice, because I use this the hole time :-(.

Uhhh, I am not able to sort my pictures in the library - that would be also nice to have someday.

And when an image in the library is used as a guide-picture and you will delete it from the library, it could be more comfortable to get a possibility to choose wether you want to delete it (from guide and library) or even not. More comfortable as getting an error message: "Error: Always used in guidelines". But, OK, this is really a little thing.
