Reset View Rotation Problem
Reset View Rotation Problem
Hello,
I've found a not so smart behaviour when resetting the view after zooming and rotating the canvas.
When zooming into a picture and rotating the canvas, you can use the reset function to set the rotation to its original angle (= 0%). Unfortunately the position of the canvas is not the same like before und you have to move the canvas to find the original place where you worked before and mostly like to work on. It would be nice if the resettet position is the same like before.
What do you think?
All the best,
Animark

Very much in agreement with you. I just can't get used to that disorientation when I reset the angle.
It's a request that keeps popping up from time to time as you can see here.

Think about the screen-view like any other object that involves transformation: position (x, y) rotation (degrees) and scale (percentage). If that is the case it would seem an easy thing to maintain a list of these three values, together in sets, as they change, generating some kind of separate screen-view history... along with a little window displaying the current three values. Adding backward and forward buttons to that window would let you jump back and forth through the history, to any previous position, rotation and scale.
oh, and maybe a fourth X1, Y1 which would be an offset of the rotation center-point for eccentric rotation or scaling?
As an extension, a couple of George commands could capture and store or retrieve and restore the screen-view values as needed.
Just an idea..

Re: Reset View Rotation Problem
Since the last post is already two years old I thought I should bring this up again. It seems like a small improvement, but it would save a lot of time, especially if you zoomed in a lot.

Another thing that this type of enhanced view management would bring is the ability to do a true "visible canvas" mirroring function, where horizontally flipping the view involves panning the canvas to offset. If there's already a way to do this, I'd love to know...

And what about the rotation? Or is this something connected?
