Wow! Thanks for posting this, Thierry. I didn't know the song but the lyrics are strangely fitting, though. If not for the story, then for my feelings during the making of this film.

A little scary even...

I never understand the decisions of the festival jury. A lot of great films, made by friends got rejected by some smaller festivals and get selected by big festivals, which are pretty picky. I start to believe there is a lot of luck involved or maybe there isn't a festival jury which shares my opinion on films, since never the film I like the most gets the award.
I can't say something about your story, but what Ive seen from your film looks amazing, so I guess it will run at a lot of festivals or lets say I hope so.

Things I know about selection comitees (because I was with them):
1. Films will be accepted because they've been accepted elsewhere.
2. Films will be rejected because they've been accepted elsewhere.
3. Films will be accepted or rejected to meet a quota (students, females, regions, themes, techniques)
4. Films will be rejected if they're technically difficult (film format, sound system, etc)
5. Films will be accepted or rejected because of hunger or pizza
6. Films will be accepted or rejected because somebody knows the makers
7. Films will be accepted or rejected depending on time of day, phase of moon, weather, whatever
8. Films will be accepted as long as the video recorder works, when it fails everything else will be rejected (true story)

Don't spend any time speculating about the reasons behind a selection committee's decision.

6. Films will be accepted or rejected because somebody knows the makers
The biggest issue, IMO.

Don't think so - it's too many filmmakers, jury members can't possibly know many of them.

Thanks Schwarz. From what I've gathered until now, it all looks to be very unpredictable.

Thank you Markus, even if such information doesn't help getting selected, it leaves you with a better feel to know it's so unpredictable.

Your film looks lovely Michael. Is there a little trailer anywhere - would be lovely to see it?

Thanks, Jo!

I've held off a trailer because it worries me to give too much of the story away.
Having said that, I did whip up one. It gives a good sense of the mood and atmosphere, I believe. The music is from the original score by Reinhard Vanbergen.

Thank you, Marc!

And you, Jo. Very nice when it's coming from you.
We've applied for the Cardiff Festival, so with a little luck it wil be playing around the corner from you somewhere this year.
