can't see guidelines

as soon as I create them, the blue lines disappear. I never can see the grid ones. ??

Without a screenshot or a record, it's hard to figure out what's going wrong

little miracle for me. I opened TVP and voila! the lines appear just as they should. I never thought of simply rebooting.
