Paul, I respect your point of view.

Anyway, I must say I rather prefer when animation exagerates (hair's moves, impossible distorsions, etc.). If animation simply imitates reality, I don't see the interest. IMHO, animation should always be more fancy

My feedback was a reaction to the whole piece. Anyone who plays and performs and yes, illustrates this sort of performance to match the music so well must love people like me. I can't imagine any other reason why they would otherwise behave like that and in my endless generosity I am willing to oblige. The world certainly needs more of this and I will support it however I can. God knows they need it so bless their little hearts.

Maybe it's just my point of view, but this clip I've seen a few minutes ago reminds me in a way of the Freak Kitchen Clip.



Of course most of it is CG and it's not my taste either, apart from that I don't like the idea to celebrate gamers as heroes. The action sequences are pretty much incoherent too, but the scene order and the camera movement made it fun to watch.
I don't want to bash Juanjo Guarnido's work on this clip, then as I said the animation and his drawings are really excellent, but the freak kitchen video seems to miss some shots which carry the clip.

So much anger in both pieces. And it works because it got me angry and all worked up too. It's impossible for me to admire something that does that to me and even less the people behind such videos. Incidentally, why are these videos called "clips"?

clip means music video in german and dutch ( Musikvideos (auch Videoclips, Video-Clips oder Clips) sind Kurzfilme, die ein Musikstück filmisch umsetzen.)

Indeed some parallels here, both are very skillfully made with topnotch production values
and both managed to get paul worked up
Both also left me cold but at least the gamers-clip had something of a story.
i did like the design of the gamerclip it was a nice hybrid 3D looking 2D style and this worked well particularly in the dolly shots in the beginning.

I really wanted to like the Guarnido clip but, if we forget about the music, the only thing to really like there was animation skill.
Because of the big contrast between the content and the packaging i felt cheated in a way.
Its like getting a beautifully wrapped present and there is nothing in it.
if the animation would have been mediocre i would have just shrugged and forgot about it.

I have to agree Peter in every single line.

Sorry Paul, we got a lot of Anglicism (is that really a word in english?) in the german language and often get tricked by them, thinking it has to be a common english word. A famous example is "handy" which is the german word for cell-phone.
As Peter already mentioned I mean music video when I say "clip".
