Holding down Ctrl to copy frames

I would like to suggest a slightly simpler behavior to copy instances/frames in the timeline.

Right now if I want to copy just one instance, I have to select/highlight the frame, hold Ctrl down and drag and drop the instance.

It would be really better in my opinion, if you could simply hold Ctrl down first and then just drag and drop the instance. That way I would not always have to select/highlight one instance.

If I would want to copy several instances, I would do it the same way as it is right now.
(Marking several instances, holding down Ctrl, drag and drop)

I don’t know if it is technically possible but if it is, it would be very helpful and would not interfere with any other functions - I think.

In short my suggestion:
To copy one instance hold down Ctrl then drag and drop as opposed to highlight the instance, hold down Ctrl then drag and drop (as it is right now)

yes, selecting a frame with the mouse While holding CTRL.

And it makes a lot of sense because the timeline cursor (red lines) is in a way already the selection of the current frame
so having to select it again by underlining it feels double.

Just to be clear, like Peter said, the selection of one frame could happen automatically when you hold down Ctrl + holding down the mouse button on any frame (of the current layer). After that you only have to drag and drop it.
That way you would skip one step of the current "copy & paste one frame" process.

Little information :

When you use Shift + Right or Left arrow, you can start to select several frame.

So, if you hit Shift + right arrow, then left arrow, you select the current frame only.

Yes, but this just adds more steps to the process. My right hand would have to move to the arrow keys and it just makes the highlighting process more complex.

Right now I always highlight one instance/frame with the mouse by clicking and dragging from left to right underneath the frame.
I could also use the "select the current frame" button in the animator panel.
My suggestion was about making this highlighting/selecting step automatically for one frame (when I hold CTRL down) if I want to copy one frame.

So that when I hold down CTRL and drag one frame with the mouse, TVPaint knows: "Okay, he wants to copy this frame "
