The program for the animafest is out now and it's a bit disappointing, since we already seen a third of the films last year in Annecy. All of them are really nice ones, so I guess the remaining films will be probably good too, it's just a bit sad so many people applying first to Annecy and in the following year to Zagreb.

That's inevitable because most festivals allow for a two year limit for the age of films eligible for competition and artists who have good films know what they have and want to catch as many festival entries as possible.

It just seems the majority of animators thinks Annecy is the more important festival, since Annecy takes place a week later and still the most films are shown in Annecy first and only in the following year in Zagreb.

Well, Annecy must be the oldest animfest in the world by now as they stubbornly hold on to their long undeserved reputation for being the best. Probably the location and undeniable charm of the city contributes a lot to the festival's reputation.
