How to Import auto "Mark In" and "Mark Out" files?

Post by PreciousRoy »

I'm new, but I'm pretty sure I'm doing this wrong.

When I import a Photoshop file I moved the layers to go behind eachother, or I "Marked" them in and out to be frames.

However, I think there's supposed to be a way to where if you import it they'll already be set up to animate.
I'm not sure if I'm saying this right but, like if you were to import them and they are automatically one after the other ready for playback.

Oh! HEYO!

Wait a second.

I see that's just for JPEG, or a single image. I have a Photoshop file and I notice there's no official "Import" button so I'm a bit confused as to how to do this for a Photoshop image? It just imports it as a layer on top of another layer.

This would be much of a problem except I don't want to have to manually mark in and out, or single frame 100 layers for example.

A PSD file is considered like TVPaint file, so it opens your PSD file and all your layers. So here, you can't have the import footage panel : you will have to delete the layers manually, or export each layer from Photoshop separately, then import them in TVPaint.

Ah I see, sorry for asking all these questions but. How can I select all the images I import all at once? Like what if I was to select all the images, choose "single frame"?

How do I import images sequences with TVPaint Animation?

Ensure that all images belonging to a sequence share a common base name ending with a sequential number (for example: image01, image02 etc...).
Ensure that the numbering of all images belonging to a sequence are contiguous. (For example, if you are importing a sequence of 3 images with the filenames: image01, image02, image04, then TVPaint Animation will only import up to image02 since image03 does not exist.)
Drag and drop the first file (image01) onto TVPaint Animation. From the import panel, uncheck the "Single Image" checkbox and then click on the "Import" button.

Don't be sorry to ask questions ;)

So will this be able to import them all as single frames? At the same time?

And thank you.

In that case, just select all your images, drag and drop them in TVPaint and check "single image". Then, each image will be imported as a new project, clip or layer (following your choice).

If you have more questions about how to import, please read lesson 5 from the user guide :)
